Trieste
We strongly recommend flying into Trieste - Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport (TRS). It is the closest airport to the castle, roughly a thirty-minute drive.
Venice and Ljubljana
Venice Marco Polo (VCE) and Ljubljana Jože Pučnik (LJU) are additional options and are each about and hour and a half to two hours away by car. From Venice, the train is also a good option: rail runs to Cormons, the station nearest the castle, with one change. From Ljubljana, we’d recommend driving.
Getting to Italy (or Slovenia)
Rent a Car
We recommend it, especially if you’re flying into Venice or Ljubljana. The region is worth exploring freely.
Book a Car with Castello di Spessa
Spessa arranges private or shared transfers from Trieste and Venice airports and from Cormons station. It is the simplest option if you’d rather not drive. To book, contact booking@castellodispessa.it.
Taxis/Uber
Taxis are available at Trieste airport daily from 8:00 am to midnight. If your flight lands outside those hours, we recommend arranging a transfer with Spessa in advance.
Do NOT count on Uber in Italy.
Getting to Castello di Spessa
We have reserved Castello di Spessa and its villas for our guests from Wednesday until Monday.
To reserve your room, email booking@castellodispessa.it. Mention our names, your arrival and departure dates, and ask for Cristina, Davide, or Manuela. They’ll have your room waiting and can take payment. Rates run from roughly 140 to 311 euros per night depending on the room.
Please note that our rooms will not appear on the Castello di Spessa website or any other booking site. Email is the only way to reserve.
